The ACE Newsletter
Censorship on the Internet (K-Grad)



The Newsletter of the NCTE Assembly on Computers in English seeks articles for a themed issue of the Newsletter focusing on Censorship on the Internet. The deadline for submission is June 30, 1996. We are seeking articles (500-1000 words) that

-describe ways that computers have led to censorship questions in your schools,

- present ideas for plans to deal with censorship issues,

-describe computer-mediated instruction that is based on the exploration of censorship,

-review software that aids teachers to monotor or control student access to "off-limits" materials,

-tell stories (or cautionary tales) of computer censorship problems in your experience,

-explore the pedagogical and philosophical issues surrounding censorship of the internet,

- argue for or against censorship of student access to internet materials,

-present an overview of the Communications Decency Act (CDA) and the repercussions of its enactment on education,

-outline the current court debate surrounding the CDA..
