The Dialogue Continues

Okay, okay. You've convinced me that there's probably nothing you can do in a traditional class that you can't do on a MOO. Well, almost. But if you can do that same things in both environments, why would anyone choose to teach in a MOO? It seems to me that you miss out on one of the most important aspects of the classroom--face-to-face interaction with me and the rest of the class.
Well, because...because...well, because it's neat! You've hit on a crucial point, and I'm not sure how to answer that. Actually, I don't think it's a question of choosing, an "either/or" situation. Rather, I think the two spaces can provide different pedagogical arenas and tools that supplement and broaden one another.
