The Dialogue Continues

It seems that MOOs work best with classroom discussion. I know that my own students generally prefer a discussion-based class, but so often two or three people dominate the discussion. I've tried calling on the others, tried assigning people as discussion leaders...well, I've tried just about everything. What do you do in a MOO when people don't participate?
Well, that rarely happens on a MOO! My students can't wait to talk! In fact, they talk so much that sometimes it's hard to keep track of who's saying what to whom. As you saw from the MOO transcript, text just keeps scrolling down the screen. Everyone is busy typing away, everyone is contributing; it's pure creative energy and chaos. And on a MOO they're not constrained to just talking to their classmates; they can engage with students across the country as well. Or even across the world.
