We must come to see that the issues of identity and perception that technology raise are not peculiar to the technology itself. It shakes us awake, making us ashamed of those things we have taken for granted. We cannot rest on our false pretenses of having figured it all out, deciding that our scientific method will bring us to some absolute. The questions themselves are absolute, though those that are posed depend greatly on their time. The aspects of ourselves of which we have not been conscious are there despite our denial; they have been sub-conscious. Now they wait for us to be swept along by them; they wait for us to allow ourselves to put aside the assumptions of old forms and join our consciousness.
